Straddling multiple growth phases in the VC space is no mean feat. Doing so consistently — and with measurable, values-driven success — is even more impressive. Which is why the SMV brand had to embody the kind of bold, grounded confidence that can only be earned, never imitated. Crucially, their multiphase approach and diverse roster steered us towards our core brand components: iron and fire.
For a VC, obligations come in multiples. Knowing the space, staying ahead of trends, charting a course for scale, getting to market… Each is a familiar challenge to a startup, let alone the dozens that are typically handled by a VC. Our proposed mark was lifted from that same concept — to keep multiple irons in the fire. And despite a somewhat literal nod to a branding iron, the analogy holds true: to be branded as part of the SMV herd is to be assured success and a solid, meaningful partnership.

For SMV, our aim was to create a dynamic, forward-leaning experience for the user — anything to communicate SMV’s commitment to move forward and outpace its peers.
